I've played through Gears of War 2 more times than is probably healthy -- and every time I'm left wanting more. I may have just gotten my wish.

Kind of...

On July 28, Del Ray Publishing will release "Gears of War: Jacinto's Remnant" in bookstores everywhere. The title, written by NY times Best selling author Karen Traviss is a direct sequel to Gears 2, so you should probably stay away if you've yet to finish it. And speaking of, you may want to skip the rest of this post  too.

Picking up after Jacinto's destruction, the book finds Marcus, Dom and the rest of Delta Squad trying to assist a group of survivors against an icy climate and the remaining locust horde. No word yet if the book will delve deeper into the Adam Fenix storyline set in motion during Gears 2.

"Karen Traviss has outdone herself again," said Rod Fergusson, Executive Producer of Epic Games. "Jacinto's Remnant not only answers the question of what happens after Gears of War 2, it also provides greater insight into the Gears of War Universe and a deeper understanding of its characters. We hope players of the game and discerning readers alike will enjoy this ongoing tale of humanity's fight for survival."

Traviss penned the first Gears book "Aspho Fields" and did a fine job, so there's no reason to believe this one will be any different.

Oh, and the Del Ray website also lists the official Gears of War 3 novelization for a February 2010 release. Just sayin'....
