Typically Summer is the the one of the slowest periods for video game releases -- but some weeks we get lucky. This week in particular, we're treated to three new releases -- well, sort of. Here's the rundown of what you'll see hitting shelves and the Xbox Live Arcade Server:
The Bigs 2 (2K Sports)
July 7th
- If you've never played The Bigs before, think of it as a baseball version of NBA Jam. With over the top arcade style gameplay and a ton of new features including new hitting and pitching mechanics and game modes, the Bigs 2 is looking like a worthwhile alternative to the sim heavy MLB 2K9. Plus, it gets extra credit for having Prince Fielder from my hometown Milwaukee Brewers on the cover.
Battlefield 1943 (EA)
July 8th
- Let's be honest with each other, you bought a Battlefield game for the single player experience. Only available via download on the Xbox Live Arcade, Battlefield 1943 takes the best parts of the series online battles and sets it entirely in the Pacific Theatre.
Bioshock/Oblivion Bundle (Bethesda/ 2K Games)
July 7th
If you haven't picked up Bioshock and Oblivion yet -- you're seriously slacking, but lucky for you 2K Games and Bethesda have bundled their award winning games to make things easier. Deals like this don't come along often in the video games -- especially for two games which are complete must owns.
