When Microsoft officially unveiled Project Natal at this year's E3, one of the big questions was which franchises would be the first to make the jump to support the device. Apparently, not Halo.

Speaking to Videogamer.com, Halo ODST's producer Alex Cutting said that a Project Natal version of Halo is coming -- but only when it makes sense. "We're not going to produce a gimmicky feature that just takes advantage of motion controls when it doesn't feel right. We're not going to make a feature that's not fun, but if there's an opportunity to do it, we'll definetly investigate it. If it's fun we will leave it in the game."

Cutting's comments seem to put an end to rumors that the mysterious Halo: Reach will utilize Project Natal, as the team seems to be waiting on incorporating the technology into future titles.

Cutting also talked about his feelings on how the FPS in general will work with Natal, pointing back to the genre's natural evolution as a sign of hope. "There's a lot to be said for Dual Stick control. But you know, before dual stick came around and before Halo established it on a console, people were pretty doubtful about that, that it could ever move from a keyboard and a mouse, so we've already seen it go from one control scheme to another."

While Cutting does says that he supports the new technology, this marks the second major Xbox franchise to openly express their hesitation with incorporating the technology into their game. Earlier this summer, Cliff Bleszinski, Gears of War's lead designer told Major Nelson that he wasn't sure how the series would use Natal and said he wouldn't change Gear's scontrol scheme just to suit the project.

Triller

If you were going to use Natal you would have to design a game around it, not incorporate it. It would be very gimmicky if all a developer did was incorporate it. Leave the Gears and Halo franchises out of it. Start a new franchise that brings the technology to the forefront of the gaming world. Its not going to sell if it is incorporated into a game.
