A while ago Game Informer ran a feature where they created the perfect RPG. We don't really play a lot of RPGs...
we like to shoot zombies.
So here's our list - of what we think would make the perfect zombie game. Hit the jump for pure undead shooting bliss.
The Perspective would have to be First-Person

The real terror of the zombie apocalypse is the sheer mass of undead that are bound to appear. Using the first person perspective, as seen in Left 4 Dead and Half Life 2 portrays the feeling of beeing outnumbered far better than any other.Sure, games like Dead Rising and Zombie Apocalypse are great -- but you have the distinct advantage of being able to see around you at all times. It's a bit more terrifying to not know exactly what' s behind you at all times.
The freedom of Dead Rising

I've never fired a gun. More than that -- besides a gun store, I'm not even sure I'd know where to get a gun. Isn't it weird then, that some zombie games treat guns like water? How easy would the zombie apocalypse become if we had an endless supply of ammo? Enter games like Dead Rising where you have to use your brain to create weapons out of the environment. And it's fun! See a bench? Take a swing at a horde of the undead. Find a bowling ball? Let her rip. Finding an actual gun feels like a luxury.
The Intensity of Resident Evil

The ideal zombie game would involve the tense moments of Resident Evil 4 and 5, where zombies pile in through windows and through the ceiling and in some cases Chris and Sheva have nothing but that whole, “courage under pressure,” look on their faces as they lay waste. Those moments are also somewhat created in Left 4 Dead, and for that matter in any zombie game, but it’s done perfectly in the latest installments to the Resident Evil series.
It's got to have a sense of humor

Sure, they're undead, brain devouring monsters, but zombies are funny. Take a look at Shaun of The Dead or the upcoming Zombieland- they do an excellent job of blending horror elements with humor. Dead Rising does a decent job channeling these movies.
Story -- ehhh...

This is where we differed most. When asked about story, Roger merely said -- "it doesn't need one", but Joe's answer was a bit more detailed." Let's get something different -- every zombie movie or game seems to start the same way -- let's get a new reason there's a zombie outbreak. What about biological warfare? Maybe they're not really zombies, but they seem like it because of chemical weapons?"
So what do you guys think? What would make your perfect zombie game?
